The Jan Evangelista Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem (UJEP) is a scientific, pedagogical & educational center of the Ústí nad Labem region. We educate a number of students exceeding 10 000. UJEP proudly takes credit for the municipality of Ústí nad Labem, and contributes in a significant way to the development of the region. The UJEP dates back to 1991, and is currently known as the umbrella term for 8 faculties. The UJEP fulfils the role of the most important and irreplaceable research and development, artistic and educational institution in the Ústí Region and the role of an important actor and partner in socio-economic relations at a regional, national and international level. The main mission of the UJEP is to spread education, to protect knowledge, to promote the principles of free thinking, independent research and artistic activity, and to generally promote the creative spirit of individuals and the society as a whole. As early as the 1990s, UJEP became a significant authority in the fight against unemployment in the whole of the Ústí region – at that time amidst a momentous transformation of the industry.
In this project, the Faculty of Social and Economic Studies is involved. The faculty is the sole public faculty focused on social and economic studies in the Ústí region. We are proud to facilitate education and research in the area of economics and management, economic policy, and public administration, as well as in the area of social work and youth integration and empowerment.
